Good Day Sunshine

my natural alarm has me greeting the dawn

Saturday morning and a glorious spring

sunshine gregarious birds

and the low slow horns of the harbor

the light rail screeches and calls out Essex

I remember the Pope is in town

and wonder what he’ll do to mark Pesach

The first seder begins tonight

the stories of slavery and unleavened haste

but now the spirit calls me to come out and play

log off the blog; go seize the day

epic journey

roam freely,
young luminous gods
i was one, once
adventuring for the first time
in what were then-new
golden meadows.
they had come out of the woods and
she is covered in a shawl
her beaming soul uncoverable
the boy with the lock of gold
hair falling into his face has
taken to a walking stick,
the black-haired boy
is walking backward, looking out
for the maiden
and his friend
you are all in love
the boys,
each boy to the girl
whatever you will choose
it can be an
epic journey

Camden Acquarium

Ancient creatures of the sea

crawled out of Delaware bay

to a life of glass in Camden

across from Campbell Soup

we touch a shark

and then we eat

Time to type

It is mostly on the weekends that I find

time and space

to let my thoughts unwind

muxtape music mix

and herbal tea

even tax time can’t derail

the twittering of each detail

Sunday in JC

Sunday morning and the peeps

is still all asleep

JC is quiet and blanketed in grey refrozen slush snow

a light rail train whines by, automated voice calling out the stops

bells ring but none of us comes to the call

Slow, sweet Sunday morning

enough time to have another cup of joe

crank BGO on the radio
